INTERNATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE
Sustainability Balanced Scorecard
International
Greening Education Event 2009 was an exciting event that helped
in getting attention of many practitioners around the world on
the issue of greening education. Many ideas and innovative
approaches have been discussed since last year, information
exchange is taking place, research projects have been initiated
and several green events were organised in various countries.
As we proceed on this challenging journey to green education,
Etech Germany and Adapt Italy are initiating a debate on
developing Sustainability Balanced Scorecard for Education
Institutions.
Background
As you know, the concept of Balanced Scorecard is not new. It
has been used in corporate sector for a long time. A large
number of organisations world-wide use Balanced Scorecard to
support implementation of corporate strategies, effectively
communicate their vision and measure performance. And the
Sustainability Balanced Scorecard has been a common tool to
incorporate all three pillars of sustainability (economic,
environment and social) in to the overall corporate plans. It
has been used to balance long-term and short-term actions and
for translating strategies in to actions.
